Clandestine cannabis growers in the Netherlands net two billion euros (2.7 billion dollars) a year — worth almost half the country’s horticultural sector — a Dutch newspaper reported on Saturday.
Police investigations suggested that about 500 tonnes of Dutch cannabis were exported each year.

Man Arrested After Taping Woman’s Mouth Shut to Make Her Listen
Authorities say a Port St. Lucie man bound a woman’s hands and taped her mouth shut, claiming he only wanted to make her listen.
The woman told St. Lucie County deputies that she woke up early Friday morning with Franco on top of her, binding her hands with plastic ties and putting duct tape over her mouth.
Franco was arrested on multiple charges, including battery and false imprisonment.
He was being held Tuesday on $10,000 bail.

There are two counts on which this story is just pathetic:
1) The two pilots arrested for public intoxication had flights the next morning. The rule is that they cannot consume alcohol 8 hours before flying, but how can that be checked? And, if you had a lot to drink, 8 hours later you’d still be hungover - scary thought, eh?
2) The pilot who pulled his pants down and “mooned” motorists on the highway is 43 years old!

The mistake was quickly spotted and reversed, but not before many quick-thinking residents had filled buckets, jugs, and any containers that came to hand.
35 women wearing tight trousers have been arrested
More than 35 young women wearing tight trousers have been arrested for “disturbing the peace” in south Sudan, police said on Tuesday.
Officers said the arrests in Juba, capital of the semi-autonomous region, were part of a crackdown on youth gangs that have sprung up recently and have a reputation for drinking, fighting and public nudity.
The women were arrested on Sunday night, but released without charge on Monday after appearing in court.
“They were wearing trousers that were too tight, disturbing the peace,” said Deputy Police Commissioner of Juba County Raiman Lege.

Nakheel Tower To Become The World’s Tallest Skyscraper
It seems like the Burj Dubai will be dethroned from the “world’s tallest tower” position as (also) in Dubai will be built a one kilometer skyscraper.
The tower was designed by Woods Bagot architects and it will be built by Nakheel, the same developer which has built those fancy state-of-the-art man-made islands in Dubai.

Forgotten, man sits in jail for two years
Joseph A. Shepard Sr. sat in local jails for almost two years, assuming that his lawyer was making progress on his case and that drug-related charges against him would soon be resolved in federal court.
His family says lawyer Michael P. Kelly told them Shepard had pleaded guilty and would return home soon with credit for time already served behind bars.
